Also known as “Round Turtle Shelters,” these were where Japanese soldiers used to hide. After the War, villagers named them Little Turtle’s Bomb Shelters. As villagers augmented or altered their residence, some of these shelters were surrounded by villagers’ yards. Often, these Little Turtle’s Bomb Shelters served as entertainment spaces for youngsters to hide and play. Even today, there are still quite a few Little Turtle’s Shelters in Hu-Wei Jian Guo Village; they are a special cultural landscape of the village.
